How A 13 Year Old Survival Game Became My Favorite Game

(BLOG)

I really want to keep the way I create videos to be open and public to anybody, so people can see the work that goes into my videos, and that I’m somebody who is actively anti Generative AI and that goes for anything I do.

General Planning / Script Writing

How I usually write / structure my videos goes through many different stages, I usually start by jotting things down into a physical notepad so I don’t lose my ideas. and then that slowly goes towards a physical mood board. Honestly it does not matter what mood board you use if you’re trying to follow my process I use Milanote, not sponsored or anything I just enjoy how easy it is to use.

As for this video I used Milanote for a general to-do list, notes, talking points, and visuals for the video itself that I wanted to make for my vision. The next step after I have a general Idea + basic notes is to make a Title and thumbnail. This process takes quite a bit because I am by no means a Photoshop expert. How I make my thumbnails is I try to get a general inspiration for thumbnail layouts by just opening up my YouTube recommended and just see whatever pops up.

And as for titles, I try to think what would be a genuinely interesting thing to click on. General YouTube stuff.

As for the script of the video, there were a few things that were cut, me wanting to create a “Cinematic Movie” about a survivor who got held hostage, but it was cut because it was just too time consuming as to when I wanted to video to release, but it was also just hard to find voice actors.

That’s why there is a cinematic in the beginning of the video that isn’t long. But that voice you hear in the intro is my friend BlenderRenderChickenTender that I got to do some simple voice lines.

Another thing I cut was a more in depth topic into the psychology of DayZ players. This was loosely covered but not as in depth as I wanted it to be originally.

How I did the cinematics

The cinematics of the video are something I got some comments about, Basically the way I did it was I used a mod for DayZ called “DayZ Editor” on the steam workshop and recorded all my cinematics on OBS. Not really that complicated but the mod can be really finicky at times, and it crashes a ton.

I recommend some tutorials from CamCANTRUN that explains the basics of DayZ Editor

I hope you enjoyed reading this blog, I plan to do more with each video I create including extra info on the process of creation
